Activity for 2/9-2/10:
At the summit, at Halema`uma`u crater there was lava spattering in at least two places in the bottom of the crater. Rock falls also occurred in the crater last night. At 1:15 AM the view from the webcam was blocked by fumes and rock dust. At 4:10 AM a rock fall occurred. At 4:15 AM there was finally a clear view form the webcam again and lava has risen above the opening in the crater. Seismic tremors were variable moving between being constant and coming in episodic bursts.
Lava continued to flow out of the TEB vent. Surface lava flows are advancing slowly and both pahoehoe and aa flows have been detected.
Rock falls are not uncommon at Kilauea. Click here to see a video of lava movement within the Halema`uma`u crater and rock falls from September of 2009. Respond below by answering this question: what do you think is causing rock falls at the Halema`uma`u crater?

What I think caused the rock fall is the earthquakes that occure under ground made the rocks move. Another posibility was that erosion from the lava beneath the rock caused the rocks to fall.
The rocks probably fell from an earthquake occuring. It could also be that the rocks just fell from gravity. It more likey to be the earthquake.
What I think caused the rock fall is the smaller sized earthquakes that happen under ground.
What I think might've caused the rock fall was that there was one or more small earthquakes that had triggered the rocks to fall.

I think a low magnitude earthquake right near the volcano slightly shook the ground causing the rock fall to occur.
I think that an earthquake occured nearby and made the rocks fall onto the lava.
I believe that a small earthquake happened beneath the crater, causing the rocks to fall which caught onto more rocks until it went into the lava.
What I think happened was that there might have been one or two small earthquakes causing the rocks to fall into the lava.
I think that the erathquakes that happen at the crater and the volcanoes and near there cause the rock to fall.
I think that an earthquake or a smaller volcano created a disturbance in the rock and made it fall.
I think the reason there were rock falls is because there were some small earthquakes in the area.
I think there were rock falls because some small earthquakes occured under the surface.
I think these rock falls are be triggered by a few small earthquakes. These earthquakes may not have been felt by anyone near the crater.
I think the rocks fell because a few small earthquakes near by the crater.
I think that earthquakes nearby are causing the rocks to fall.
At the crater, I think that the magma chamber is shaking and causing small earthquakes. The small earthquakes are shifting the rocks. That leads to the rocks falling.
I think the few small earthquakes around the crater of the volcano have triggered the rocks to fall.
I think small Earthquakes and rocks falling into the magma caused the Halema uma 'uma 'u crater, Because the more rock pieces fall into the the crater, the more rock gets worn down. Because of this it causes a crater.
I think afew small earthquakes close to the crater of the volcano made the rocks fall.

I think that a few small earthquakes near the Helema ;uma 'u crater were the cause of the falling rocks.
I think a couple small earthquaks might of caused the rock falling.
I think that because there was earthqakes in the area of the volcano the earthqakes caused the rock slides
